Savara dedicates part of 'Savage Level' album to mum, lover Yvonne Endo

The singer, who is also a drummer, vocalist, and producer, revealed that the song 'Fashionista' is dedicated to his mother.

Savara's mother, like most African mothers, raised him on the proceeds from sewing clothes.

He went on to say that his mother did not approve of him going to church without ironing his clothes.

He has kept this lesson to this day, and the album is titled 'Fashionista' to honor his mother for instilling the importance of fashion in his life.

“Fashionista ni ngoma ya mamangu…as I started writing the album, nikarealize mathangu alinilea na cherehani, just like any other African kid out there…mathangu alikuwa na stalls tatu Kariobangi market na school fees ilikuwa inakosa hivi…anatoa cash…iyo juacali iyo."

"On Sunday naenda church, na sijapasa nguo? Unaeza pigwa kofi, she was instilling the fashinistic presicion in me,” said Savara while speaking to Mpasho news Saturday.

Savara also dedicated 'In my heart,'  to his long-time girlfriend Yvonne Endo, whom he describes as'my rock, my everything, and she's kept it together for me.'

The song was initially difficult to write, according to Savara, because the two had a disagreement at the time.

After the two reconciled, he realized it was much easier to write the song,'song ilijiandika,' he said.

“Ilikuwa hard sababu iyo time nilikuwa najaribu kuandika we were fighting a lot na ilikuwa so crazy…na venye nilijua nampenda zaidi, venye tulimake up tu hivi, song ilijiandika…” said Savara.

The album was officially released on Friday February 25, 2022.
