Singer Gilad pens heartfelt message as son joins military

Kenyan-based Israeli diplomat-turned-singer Gilad Millo took to social media to post a heartfelt message to his son after seeing him off to join the Israeli Defense Forces.

The ‘Sitaki Mwingine’ singer, in an Instagram post, announced that his first-born son Omer would be joining the force as a Paratrooper; which is a military term for a parachutist, someone trained to parachute into an operation.

Gilad, in the message posted from the Israeli Air Force Museum, acknowledged that it was difficult for him and his wife to let go of Omer, but added that he had undoubtedly made them proud.

“I hugged you this morning for as long as I could until it was time to let you go. How can a father possibly be prouder? My son, my boy, my first born, my pride, my Omer,” wrote Gilad.

The ex-diplomat further commended Omer for being a true Israeli, stating that the decision to return to Israel and serve his homeland was entirely his own choice.

“…this is the choice you made, to be a real Israeli, to return to Israel alone and serve your country as a lone soldier and as you say, to aim as high as you can and give it your all… I ask God to protect and keep you healthy, safe, happy and strong! Counting the days till I can hug you again,” he added.
