Smelly defence: Man smears poop on himself to halt court case

There was drama at the Wajir Magistrate’s Court as a man accused of stabbing his wife smeared faeces on himself to forestall his trial.

Mohamed Deeq Warmoge applied human waste on his entire body after he realised that the long arm of the law was closing in on him for a heinous crime –the brutal stabbing of his wife that left a knife lodged in her skull.

Instead of defending his case legally, Mr Deeq opted to use human waste to halt the court case. The pungent odour from his ‘stinky protective salve’ made him an unwanted guest and he could not be allowed inside the court room.

His smelly defence tactic succeeded in disrupting the trail process as his case was adjourned to April 22^nd.

In January 2016, the accused stabbed his wife Fatuma Ibrahim in the cheek following a family dispute at Khorof Harar, Wajir County.

Fatuma was flown to Nairobi where she underwent a successful surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital, after more than 24 hours with the knife planted in her cheek.

The mother of four later urged authorities to arrest her husband.

Mr Deeq was arraigned before a Wajir court on January 8 where he pleaded not guilty.

He denied stabbing his 32-year-old wife and told the court he was trying to save his wife from attempting suicide.

Prosecutor Meroka Riech requested more time to await the medical report.
