Scott, a U.S. Senator of South Carolina and also a presidential candidate who just dropped off the race for the White House, became a topic of conversation amongst Kenyans on X (formerly Twitter) after an official photo of his was published by gossip website Pop Crave.
Taken aback by Scott's distinctive facial features, one X user commented on the possibility of there being several variations of Rigathi Gachagua who has previously been compared, also facially, to US standup comedian Dave Chappelle.
"Bro how many variants exist in the Riggyverse this is terrifying!" X user @kamauwhynaina tweeted.
Just like the Deputy President, Tim Scott also bears a striking bald head, sharp eyes, a chubby face and a wide, toothy grin.
Many people immediately saw the resemblance and started sharing side-by-side photos of the two unrelated politicians as the witty wisecracks spread.
One user laughed, saying, "Enough internet! What do you mean Riggyverse? Like there's a universe of alternate Truthful Men?!"
Another said, "This is the Riggy-T variant. A bit polished and exposed but still a riggy variant!"
On her part, @carolinegathoni mused, "What in the Mathirasphere is going on here!? I know we live in a multiverse but this is a little too unreal!"
Gachagua, who has gained internet popularity for his frequent use of choice words, quotable quotes and his sense of fashion, has often become a trending topic and a subject of banter from idle internet trolls.
As the 2022 General Elections neared, Catholic University law student Ivy Chelimo, fascinated by his personality, nicknamed him 'Riggy G', a street corruption of his name Rigathi Gachagua, as if to give credence to his street credibility.
The Deputy President would fall so much in love with the nickname that he not only offered its originator a job but also trademarked it.
"The Deputy president likes it when you call him Riggy G. He dances a lot when he hears that name. It makes him feel young. Whenever I want a favour I call him Riggy G," Second Lady Dorcas Gachagua said in June.
