Matata,
a Norway-based Kenyan dance/music group, is set to launch their debut studio album
dubbed ‘Super Morio.’
The
group has released their first single, ‘Oversize T-shirt’ featuring Sauti Sol,
from the upcoming album.
The
song’s audio was recorded in Oslo, Norway, and Nairobi, Kenya, and then
mastered in London.
The
group, which has been off the scene for the better part of the year, has been
promising their fans a project they have been working on for months, which is
almost complete.
“We
are cooking like never before. We can’t wait for y’all to listen to our new
projects. It’ll be Matata season soon,” the group responded to their fans on
why they went low-key.
The
‘Mare Mare’ and ’Gengetone love’ hitmakers during an interview said they don’t
want to announce the release date of their new album as they are looking for
potential distributors to work with.
“The
thing is we do not want to disclose anything yet since we are looking to work
with big distributors so we cannot give details until we are sure of the
release dates,” Festus Mwenda, a Matata group member, told the Standard.
Matata
is comprised of five members namely Freddy Milanya, Richie Mathu, Ken Kimathi,
Marcus Ojiambo and Festus Mwenda.
They
are speculated to have worked with musical virtuosos like Liam Bailey and NSG
from London, Okello Max, Sauti sol, and Wakadinali from Kenya.
