Swazi DJ Uncle Waffles, real name Lungelihle Zwane has expressed disappointment after a weekend concert in Nairobi that was marred by chaos.

During the Saturday concert held at the ASK Done along Ngong road, revellers reported harassment from event organisers and poor sound quality.

Overcrowding, delays and other frustrations were experienced by attendees causing frustration among attendees.

The tension escalated until police lodged tear gas to disperse the agitated crowd, sending majority of revellers out of the venue.

In a statement on Monday, Uncle Waffles blamed the event organisers for the chaos witnessed at the concert, saying she is disappointed and shattered.

The DJ, originally from Eswatini, said the poor sound was experienced even before her performance.

Uncle Waffles says the event organisers not only mishandled attendees, but also her team.

“The safety and wellbeing of people who come out to support me and this genre is my top priority, and I could not play my set any longer while people were visibly uncomfortable and at risk of getting hurt. To the event organisers, you have not only disappointed me but you have also let down the 10 000+ people who came out in support of this event,” read Uncle Waffles’ statement.

She further challenged the organizers to step up, promising a bigger return to Kenya.

“Kenya I hope to see you again soon with a much better outcome, I love you guys sm!”
