The project, made during lockdown with producer Sensei, reflects the balance between introversion and sociability.
The music was a therapeutic process, allowing Bigzy to create full tracks and express deep emotions.
The EP opens with the track "Wifeless” which is about a breakup. Bigzy uses melody and vibe, rather than direct lyrics, to convey his feelings, taking a metaphorical approach which makes listeners feel the pain and emotion behind the breakup.
In "Peace of Mind", which is the EP's next track, Bigzy reflects on his personal struggles - He was out of work, moved to a new area, and turned 25. The song expresses his vulnerability and search for direction, with a hopeful tone that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
This is then followed by "Some of Dat“ which pays homage to Jamaican influences in Bigzy’s life. It captures the essence of chatting with a girl and creating a vibrant, carefree vibe.
His masterful lyricism is also felt in “Bad to the Bone“, a track inspired by the UK’s Afro-swing scene. “Bad to the Bone” showcases a strong, assertive vibe. It also reflects the vibrant black British culture and the energy of Afro-swing music, which was popular in clubs and on the radio.
And in "Radar", which features fellow artist Sensei, Bigzy churns out a melody-rich, groovy and vibey song that is about Bigzy’s experience with a certain lady who has gotten his attention by flying too close to his radar and now Bigzy can't unsee her.
Bigzy’s “Introverted Thoughts” EP is a journey through different emotions and influences. With tracks that range from personal reflections to cultural homages, the EP offers a rich listening experience.
