Actress Lupita Nyongo comes back to Kenya

Internationally acclaimed Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong’o, is finally coming back home and all you have to do to meet her is to part with Sh10, 000 per person or Sh100, 000 for a table.

The award winning actress, who has not met the Kenyan public since she bagged an Oscar award in 2014, will be the chief guest at an exclusive conservation function which will be held on Thursday, July 2 at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi.

The function is aimed at raising support for elephants as the endangered animals are increasingly being targeted for their ivory.

In a statement to newsrooms, Lupita said that she is happy to be returning home and more so because of the role she will play in conservation.

“I am delighted to be returning home, especially with the added honor of being able to use this opportunity to help shine a global light on Kenya’s conservancy efforts,” said Nyongo.

She added that elephants are a critical part of Kenya’s heritage and they must be protected.

“Our country’s elephants are a critical piece of the heart of Kenya and we need to take action now to save their population from the threats that continue to endanger their existence,” read the statement.

Lupita will partner with WildAid, whose mission is to end the sale of illegal wildlife artifacts such as elephant tusks or rhino horns.

The evening function will be part of her long awaited homecoming tour, which will see her involved in activities that aim to uplift the Kenyan arts community as well as raise awareness on conservancy efforts in the country.

Lupita, who was named People Magazine’s most beautiful person in 2014, has been celebrated the world over for her red carpet fashion.

She has also landed several fashion photo shoots and is the face of Lancome, a French luxury cosmetics company.
