All about Miss Universe 2019: Zozibini Tunzi
South Africa’s flag flew high at the just concluded Miss Universe 2019 pageant after Zozibini Tunzi took the crown.
Tunzi emerged victorious in a global contest with more than 90 women gunning for the much coveted crown.
”Her eloquent and informed answers on social issues propelled her to the winning title,” Refinery29 reported.
Here are some facts about Zozibini Tunzi, the Miss Universe 2019 queen. She is:
- an advocate against gender based violence
- a public relations professional
- the first black woman to win the title since 2011 and the third person from South Africa to take the crown
- from Eastern Cape in South Africa where she was raised by her parents: her father a civil servant and her mother, a teacher.
- past winner of the Miss Mamelodi Sundowns, a South African Pageant and previously made it to the semi finals of Miss South Africa twice before winning in 2019.
- passionate advocate for natural beauty and ‘encourages women to love themselves as they are’
- a gifted singer.
- an avid reader of novels according to Sowetan Live.
- acrophobic (fears heights) and trypophobic (fears holes)
- looks up to the likes of Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana and Steve Biko.
