Thamani Awards 2025 launched to honour Kenyan mothers

The inaugural Thamani Awards 2025 have officially been launched, with organizers inviting nominations to recognize outstanding Kenyan mothers across various sectors.

In a statement released by the Award Secretariat, the organizers described the six-month-long preparation as a labor of love to “create a platform that not only celebrates achievement but also uplifts the stories of resilience, leadership, and love that mothers bring into the world every single day.”

The awards, which will take place on May 11, 2025, at Nairobi’s KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, are set to recognize mothers across 25 categories, from “Best Media Personality” to “Super Mum 2025,” a special award for mothers of children with special needs.

“These are not your typical awards,” the statement emphasized. “From educators shaping young minds to unsung heroes balancing careers and caregiving, the awards span 25 categories—21 competitive and 4 honorary recognitions.”

From April 15–20, Kenyans are called to take part by nominating women who have left a mark in their lives.

“Be it the teacher who believed in you, the entrepreneur juggling boardrooms and bedtime stories, or the neighbor who uplifts her community,” reads the call to action, “anyone can nominate — whether it’s yourself or someone who has touched your life.”

Nominees will be revealed on April 22, followed by a period of public voting from April 23 to May 5.

The final gala, slated for Mother’s Day Eve, promises live performances, powerful stories, and emotional tributes, offering a national spotlight to mothers whose influence rarely makes the news but always shapes the nation.
