13 candidates shortlisted in the race to succeed Kalpana Rawal as DCJ
The Judicial Service Commission has shortlisted 13 women for the Deputy Chief Justice post.
Out of the 15 who applied for the post, Justices Abida Ali Aroni, Agnes Murgor, Fatuma Sichale, Martha Koome, Roselyne N. Nambuye were among those who made it to the list.
The other shortlisted candidates are; Lady Justices Hannah Okwengu, Wanjiru Karanja, Philomena Mwilu, Lydia Achode and Pauline Nyamweya; lawyers Ms Surinder Kapila, Ms Pamela Tutui and Ms Joyce Miguda Majiwa.
Two other applicants, Judith Wanjala and David Wamure Waihiga failed to make it to the shortlist.
The post of Deputy Chief Justice was left vacant after the retirement of Kalpana Rawal.
JSC has also shortlisted 18 applicants for the post of Supreme Court Judge out of the 21 who applied for the post.
Among those in the list include Justices Isaac Lenaola, Wanjiru Karanja, Mbogholi Msagha, Alnashir Visram, Wanjiru Karanja, and Luka Kimaru among others.
The Supreme Court Judge position was left vacant after the exit of Justice Philip Tunoi.
In a statement, the commission indicated that they would publish the names of the shortlisted candidates as well as the interview dates for each candidate.
JSC has further invited members of the public with information of interest to the commission regarding the shortlisted candidates to come forward with it before the interviews are conducted.
