16-year-old girl stabbed to death over memory card in Bomet
A 16-year-old girl was on Wednesday stabbed
to death by her female friend at Mulot trading centre, Bomet County, following
an altercation over the ownership of a memory card.
Police
reports say that the deceased, a greengrocer by profession, was in possession
of the said memory card when the suspect accosted her but she refused to hand
it over.
The
suspect is said to have snatched a knife from the victim, which she was using
to chop vegetables, before using it to stab her in the chest.
The
deceased died on the spot while the suspect, a 16-year-old bar attendant, was
apprehended soon after.
"We
are told that the suspect is a bar attendant at Mulot trading center and was
moving to Bomet town. We are lucky to have arrested her immediately with the help
of members of the public," Bomet Wast sub-county police boss Francis
Kigeri said in a statement.
The
deceased's body has since been moved to the Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary
while investigations into the incident continue.
