17-year-old arrested in connection with Mombasa-based terror gang

The minor was arrested on Saturday in Majaoni area after the chief reported spotting the gang that was armed with crude weapons to police officers at Kiembeni Police station.

According to the National Police Service, the boy is currently in custody awaiting arraignment.

Police have in the meantime also launched a manhunt on his accomplices who managed to escape arrest.

The Hillary Mutyambai-led agency has assured residents that it has intensified patrols in the region to ensure the safety of the public.

“We however, encourage the public, particularly the youth, to desist from being involved in any criminal activities,” the Police Service added.
