2 Mitaboni killings suspects arrested

Police have arrested two people who are suspected to have played a part in the killing of 5 security guards in Mitaboni and one other guard in Machakos.

The Friday arrests come just two days after five watchmen were killed Wednesday night following an attack by armed assailants at Mitamboni Market in Kathiani, Machakos County.

According to reports, the attackers were armed with crude weapons including axes and pangas –  weapons that they used to attack the night guards.

Machakos County governor Alfred Mutua said that police detectives were still pursuing four more suspects, adding that the culprits have gone in to hiding.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Governor Mutua said that sources indicated that some aspiring politicians might be linked to the killings.

County Commissioner Matilda Sakwa confirmed the arrest of suspects saying that they will assist the police with investigations into the murders.

“I am calling upon politicians to avoid using such incidents as as tools for their campaigns. We already have leads and the accomplices will soon be brought to book,” assured the county commissioner.
