3 candidates move to court to stop Speaker election in Kakamega

Three candidates vying for Speaker position in the Kakamega County Assembly filed a case in court on Wednesday morning, demanding that the exercise be stopped.

The candidates moved to court on claims that their names were missing in the list of candidates shortlisted to contest for the speaker seat.

Former Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito Mugali, politician Brian Lishenga and lawyer Leonard Shimaka, claim they have been barred from entering the County Assembly premises on grounds that their names were not published in the list of candidates.

However, it is alleged that the three did not submit all the required documents at the right time.

Meanwhile other candidates contesting for the seat are lawyer James Namatsi, politician Kennedy Kilwake and former Speaker Morris Buluma.
