3 dead, 7 injured in grisly accident on Embu-Mwea road

Three people were killed and seven seriously injured after a lorry hit a Nissan matatu at Wamumu on the Embu-Mwea Road in Kirinyaga County.

Confirming the incident, Mwea -West Police Commander Aden Alio said the ill-fated Nissan Matatu was headed to Ngurubani from Makutano while the lorry was headed to Makutano when the accident occurred.

The injured were rushed to the Rose Medical Centre where they are currently admitted; the search for the lorry driver who disappeared after the accident is ongoing.

“We are searching (sic) for the lorry driver who disappeared after the accident but we are sorry to inform you that the Matatu driver was among the three who perished in the carnage,” Aden Alio said.

Bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Mwea Mission Hospital Mortuary.
