Thirty health facilities built by the Migori County government ten years ago are yet to be operationalized. The non-operationalized health facilities are dispensaries spread in wards across the county.

Oore dispensary is among the health facilities that have not been opened for use several years after their completion.

This dispensary that brought hope to residents of Oore community, who have challenges in accessing health services, remains closed.

Phenius Olunga, a resident of Oore says the construction of the dispensary was completed during the tenure of the former governor Okoth Obado. It has never been open for use by the community.

Olunga adds that they are yet to understand why the facility cannot be open for use.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Migori County Executive Committee Member in the Department of Health, Julius Awuor Nyerere confirmed that there are 30 health facilities across the country which have not been operationalized.

Nyerere, however, said that the plan to operationalize them is underway as the administration is putting in place necessary equipment and workforce.

He said the facilities can not be opened before the necessary equipment have not been procured.
