Siaya: 4 children escape death after DCI vehicle rams into kiosk

Four children escaped death by a whisker after a kiosk that they were in was hit and seriously damaged by a saloon car at Ndori market in Siaya County this evening.

In the Saturday evening incident, the car which belongs to Rarieda Sub-county  Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had veered off the road at Ndori-Nyang’oma Kogelo junction before hitting the kiosk.

According to the mother of one of the children, they were seated beside the kiosk and the four children were inside the shop when the unfortunate incident took place.

The car was reportedly being driven at a high speed and was chasing another vehicle which was suspectedly ferrying contraband.

One child was rescued inside the damaged kiosk following the accident after the three others luckily managed to run out immediately the incident occurred.

Two out of the four children only sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition even though they are still traumatized.

After hitting the kiosk, the car rolled and damaged the pit latrine that was behind the kiosk before stopping on the fence of the adjacent homestead.
