4-year-old girl dies after falling into pit latrine in Migori

A girl aged 4 years died on Monday morning after falling into an uncovered pit latrine in Jiw- Dendi estate in Awendo town, Migori County.
Area Assistant chief Beatrice Awuor Ochier said the minor was playing with her friend when she slithered into the latrine that was under maintenance.
Ochier said the family of the deceased tried to save her immediately they got the information, unfortunately they failed.
She said the body of the deceased has been moved to Rapcom hospital mortuary pending police investigation
The area Assistant chief said the owner of the killer pit latrine said the structure was under maintenance.
Ochier has appealed to the landlords in Awendo town to ensure that all latrines and wells are covered to avoid such accidents.
