5 dead, 4 injured after night fire in Mathare

Nairobi regional police commander George Sedah said four others were critically injured following the early morning inferno.

Expressing remorse, Sedah further noted that a joint team from the county fire brigade and the military helped prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent units.

Dozens of families have been left without their homes after several housing units were reduced to ashes.

Meanwhile bodies of the deceased have been taken to City mortuary.
