50-year-old man dies after being hit by police vehicle in Lamu

A 50-year-old man has died after he was hit by a police vehicle at Subira on the Lamu-Garsen road on Sunday.

Mwangi Dorcas was reportedly riding his motorcycle heading towards Hindi when the police van driver, who is suspected to have been drunk at the time, hit him before hurriedly driving off.

The body of the deceased is presently being preserved at the Mpeketoni Hospital mortuary.

Confirming the incident, Mokowe OCS Bisengi stated that the police vehicle which hit and killed the man belongs to his station.

He added that investigations have since began into the incident before any action is taken against the driver.
