54 Nigerian Soldiers Sentenced To Death
The soldiers who were found guilty of mutiny were also accused of refusing to help recapture three towns that had been seized by Boko-Haram in August.
The soldiers’ lawyer said the 54 will face a firing squad while five others were acquitted.
In their defence, the troops complained that they were not supplied with enough weapons and ammunition to fight Boko-Haram militants.
The militant group has been waging an insurgency in Nigeria since 2009 and is said to be seeking to create an Islamist State in North-Eastern Nigeria.
