6 Shot Dead After An Attempted Attack At Nyali Barracks

According to Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa, the gang of about 15 forcefully tried to gain entry into 17 Kenya Rifles barracks in Nyali.


The gang was armed with pangas and machetes but soldiers manning the gate responded killing 5 of them.


According to the Kenya Defense Forces, the rest managed to escape into a nearby forest, some with gunshot wounds.


The pursuit of the escapees continued till day break after which one more suspect was shot dead while another was arrested.


A KDF soldier is currently recuperating from injuries sustained from the attack.


And in yet another attack in Malindi, police officers repulsed an armed gang that attempted to laid the local administration police lines.


According to Malindi deputy AP commander Fredrick Mwangi, 20 heavily armed assailants attempted to raid the police line.


The officers on duty fought back the attackers who eventually made away.


A man hunt for the attackers in both incidents is currently going on, with the Kenya Defence Forces conducting a search in the forest near the barracks as well as on the streets on Mombasa.
