8 arrested for allegedly operating illegal brewery in Dandora

Eight suspects were on Saturday night arrested for operating a suspected illegal alcohol brewing and processing plant in Dandora.

The suspects were nabbed by detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) following a tip-off from members of the public.

181 boxes each containing 20 bottles of 250ml Star spirit, 42 boxes of Blue Ice vodka, empty plastics as well as Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stickers were confiscated during the raid.

The suspects presently being held in police custody pending arraignment are; Stephen Wambugu, David Chui, Salome Wanjiru, Wilikister Kemunto, John Mwangi, Daniel Maigwa, Zacharia Macharia and Peter Maina.

Detectives are still in pursuit of the owner of the illegal brewing plant said to be at large.
