8 guns, 197 rounds of ammo discovered at Judiciary cop’s home
Police officers in Trans Nzoia on Tuesday night recovered a cache of eight guns and 197 rounds of ammunition from a police officer attached to the Judiciary.
According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, detectives were tipped off that an unidentified individual had been seen inside the home of a police officer who was not present.
The officers who responded to the tip-off went to the aforementioned home, where an unidentified suspect fled, leaving the door open.
When the officers went inside, they discovered that the house was leased to a police driver named Maxwell Tally Mutonyi, who lives in the Police Band quarters in the South B Nairobi Area.
The officers discovered a cache of weapons in the living room, including one UZI SMG rifle with magazine, a Smith and Wesson revolver, six Germany Walther pistols with magazines and and 197 rounds calibre 9 mm ammunition.
They also recovered one smoke trouser, a jungle pullover, an Angola jungle shirt, one modified swagger cane and a colorless liquid in a five litre jerrycan.
Outside the house was a blue Peugeot of registration No. KAC 001W which was also impounded.
Probe into the matter is underway.
