A Hindu fringe group holds a rally in New Delhi to support Trump

Hindu Sena, a Hindu far-right fringe group, held a demonstration in Indian capital, New Delhi, on Tuesday (October 18) to express their support to the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.

Dozens of Hindu Sena, or Hindu Army, activists carrying placards and posters in support of Trump chanted slogans hailing Trump as India’s friend.

The demonstrators set on fire several posters with images of Trump’s rival, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Hindu Sena leader Vishnu Gupta, whose group is known more for its publicity stunts than political weight said

Trump’s election would be good news for India.

“He said if he is elected president, India will be his good friend,” he said.

Trump pledged last Saturday (October 15) at an event sponsored by the Republican Hindu Coalition to raise money for victims of terrorism that his election will guaranter the Indian and Hindu community “a true friend in the White House.”

Earlier this year, Hindu Sena celebrated Trump’s 70th birthday at a rally in New Delhi calling him “saviour of humanity” who could end the global threat posed by Islamist militants
