Man exhumes dead sister-in-law, dumps remains at the door of his ex-wife

Police in Migori are pursuing a man in his 60s accused of exhuming the body of his sister-in-law, who was buried 12 years ago. 

The man separated with his wife Monica Adhiambo three years ago over family wrangles. 

He is then suspected of exhuming the body of his sister-in-law Joan Apondi, who was buried in his land, and deserted it at the door of Adhiambo. 

Speaking to Ramogi FM on Thursday, Adhiambo who lives in a rental house at Kakaro trading centre in Suna East Sub County said she was in the house when the suspect dropped the remains that were inside a sack in front of her house.

Adhiambo said she was aware that her ex-husband whom was planning to bring the remains of her sister because he had visited her earlier, where threatened her for declining to reconcile with him.

She said her deceased sister was not married, and was buried at the man’s home after her (then) husband agreed with his in-laws.

The deceased’s mother Mr.Susan Otieno said she is waiting for the direction from the police adding that she is willing to bury the remains of her daughter in her own land.

Kakaro North  sub location Assistant chief Mr.Joel Amwenya said the matter is now under investigation.
