Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports Ababu Namwamba has been appointed by President William Ruto, to the United Nations (UN) Global Leadership Council of Generation Unlimited (GenU).

Generation Unlimited is a United Nations platform dedicated to promoting the interests and well-being of the world's youth.

Namwamba is set to embark on his first official duty as a member of the Global Leadership Council during the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA, on September 21, 2023.

“We appreciate this honor and confidence bestowed upon us by President William Ruto. Our BETA Young People’s Agenda is transformative, and includes Youth Digital & Innovation Skilling for Job Creation, Youth for Climate Adaptation, Youth in Peace & Security and #TalantaHela,” the CS stated on X, formerly Twitter on Wednesday.

Namwamba's new role comes months before the Youth Connekt Africa Summit, which will be held in Nairobi in December.

He has urged Kenyan youths to come up with innovative ideas to be presented during the summit, where the government will award the winners with money to support the initiatives.
