In celebration of International Women’s Day, Absa Bank Kenya has honoured 48 women who completed the SheRise Masterclass leadership programme and recognised three outstanding leaders through its Women in Leadership Awards 2026.

The SheRise Masterclass, led by leadership coach Dr Patricia Murugami, is designed to equip women with leadership skills and confidence to make an impact in their organisations and communities.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Absa Bank Kenya Chief People Officer, Ms. Mumbi, said the bank’s focus on women’s development aligns with this year’s theme, “Give To Gain.” She highlighted initiatives supporting work-life balance, mental health, and professional growth.

Chief Finance Officer Yusuf Omari noted the wider impact of empowering women, citing research showing that women-led businesses reinvest most of their revenue into their families and communities. He also cited Absa’s internal diversity statistics: a 52% female workforce, 45% of women in leadership roles, and a 60-40 gender ratio on the Board.

The Women in Leadership Awards 2026 recognised Olive Moko with the Pathmaker Award, Joyce Wanjiku with the Leadership Legacy Award, and Jedidah Akinyi Rakwar with the Rising Star Award (Under 30), celebrating women demonstrating leadership, resilience, and commitment to empowering others.
