Acting police IG Kanja officially takes over from Koome

Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja Kirocho has officially taken over from Japhet Koome, who unexpectedly resigned on Friday.

The handing-over ceremony was held at the National Police Service (NPS) headquarters in Nairobi.

"During the brief handing over ceremony, the outgoing 1G Koome expressed his profound gratitude to the National Police Service Officers for the support they accorded him while he was in office, and added that Kenya is a beautiful Country and bigger than all of us," NPS said in a statement.

Kanja on his part applauded Koome for his exceptional service and decorated police career, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
