Aukot believes that President Ruto is going off the deep end with his worrying statements while trying to tame the anti-government protests that he has vowed to combat using "whatever means that is available".
"I see frustrations in government because all of the government policies have failed. I see an angry president. You can't govern a country with such an attitude," Aukot noted on Citizen TV.
"In fact, some people are saying...I think Ruto needs to check into a mental facility to be analysed because some of the things he is saying are worrying."
He added that the State has failed to tame public clamor and has opted to train its security machinery to citizens instead of heeding their calls.
"The government is sponsoring a false narrative that there is a state of anarchy in Kenya and hence the use of words like enough is enough, shoot to kill, shoot in the leg, and that is because Kenyans are invoking their sovereign power under article 1 to say the people we elected to represent us have failed us in many ways," he added.
This comes after President Ruto told police officers to shoot in the leg anyone caught looting businesses and vandalizing property during protests.
While commissioning a police housing project in Nairobi’s Kilimani area on Wednesday, the President told officers not to kill but “shoot and break the legs” of any violent protester.
“Anyone who burns down someone else’s business and property, let them be shot in the leg and go to the hospital as they head to court. Yes, let them not kill, but shoot and break the legs. Destroying people’s property is not right,” he said.
He also vowed to deal with those plotting to oust him from power unconstitutionally, daring anyone to attempt the move before the 2027 General Election, noting that he can no longer maintain his silence and "enough is enough".
Kenyans have been holding a series of protests across the nation since June 12, 2025, that led to the destruction of businesses, infiltration of politically sponsored goons, and deaths of innocent protesters and civilians.
