Lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu was shot eight times in the attack that led to his death. Two bullets were recovered from his body, one of them lodged in his spine.

According to a post-mortem examination conducted by government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, the shooting appeared to be intentional and at close range, with most of the shots fired from the victim’s right side.

The fatal injuries to the neck and spine led to massive internal bleeding, which ultimately caused his death.

The recovered bullets are set to undergo ballistic analysis, which investigators hope will help identify the type of firearm used and the caliber of the ammunition.

"We found that Wakili was shot eight times and most of the gunshots came from the right side of the body. We were able to recover two bullets, which were given to the investigating officers for ballistic purposes," he noted.

"There was a lot of bleeding because of injury to the neck vessels and spine. They were severe enough to cause death."

As the investigation enters its second day, authorities report that progress is being made, though they have yet to disclose any suspects or the motive for the killing.

On Tuesday evening, lawyer Mbobu was attacked at around 5:40 pm along Magadi Road, Nairobi, by gun-toting assailants on a motorbike who fired at his head before speeding off.

Following his murder, members of the legal fraternity have called for the police to expedite investigations to unearth the perpetrators and the motive of the heinous crime.
