Babu Owino pushes for release of Tassia title deeds

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino now wants the government to expedite issuance of title deeds to residents of Tassia estate in Embakasi to end the land row.

The legislator, who visited the area on Wednesday, said his constituency had been hard hit by dubious land transactions, adding that he had taken up the matter with the National Assembly.

“We are not going to tolerate ‘landlessness’ again in Embakasi East Constituency. Those who have no title deeds must be given,” Mr. Owino said.

The MP noted that the matter will soon come up for discussion before the Lands Committee.

He said several cases had been reported to his office regarding land grabbing, and wants the government through the Lands Ministry to come to the rescue of the residents.

Addressing the residents in Tassia Estate, Babu Owino promised that the title deeds will be processed within the next few weeks.

“I will work for my people of Embakasi. You all know I have a case in court but I will defeat them because you chose me to serve you,” he assured his constituents.
