Ban Ki Moon Appoints Kenyan Woman As Assistant Sec.General

Born in Kenya in 1966, Wainaina takes up her new role replacing Catherine Pollard who has been appointed assistant secretary general for general assembly and conference management.

Wainaina has served as Coca-Cola group human resources director in Europe.

She has also held various posts at coca-cola company in Turkey, U.S, and U.K And Kenya and also as chief of staff, among other senior positions.

She started her career as a management consultant at Price Water House Coopers in Kenya.

She holds a bachelor of business degree from the University of Southern Queens Land in Australia, majoring in human resources management and marketing.
