Bandits shoot at MPs, Redcross convoy distributing food in Baringo
The leaders who were distributing food to victims of insecurity in Yatya, Chemoe and Chepkesin areas of Saimo Soi and Bartabwa Wards were shot at as they approached Chemoe from Yatya.
The MPs were forced to call for reinforcement from nearby police camps before proceeding to Chepkesin which was a riskier area.
The convoy didn't have any security safe for two VIP escorts.
While addressing the media after the incident Makilap said the government needs to stop the banditry in the region adding that more than 10,000 people have fled their homes after series of attacks.
Baringo Woman Representative Florence Jematia said the locals have become helpless after government failed to assure them their security.
15 people have been killed by bandits so far since January.
