Baringo bleeding: Leaders plead with gov't to deal with banditry

Following the incessant banditry attacks in the north rift including the killing of an MCA by bandits in Samburu County on Sunday, residents and local leaders are up in arms, pleading with the government to intervene.

Led by MCA Evalyne Korir, Baringo people have made an appeal to the government to deal with the issue once and for all, saying that Baringo is bleeding.

Five schools have so far been closed down due to banditry in Baringo County.

In a forum on Sunday, Cooperatives CS Simon Chelugui noted that President Ruto is aware of the issue and he will address soon.

Head of Public Service Felix Kosgei also promised that the government will soon take a decisive action which will root out banditry.

The leaders were speaking today during a church fundraiser at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mogotio, Baringo County.

This was after reports of the death of Paul Leshimpiro, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) of Angata Nanyekie ward in Samburu County.

Leshimpiro was shot dead by suspected bandits while heading to his Morijo home on Sunday midmorning.
