Following Sunday evening’s boat incident that saw a boat ferrying youth for a church service from the mainland to the island capsize in Lake Baringo, it has been a beehive of activities as the search for the six missing bodies intensified on Monday.

The incident saw 12 people rescued, while one succumbed and six more bodies still missing.

According to the area MP Charles Kamuren, security teams have called for more help from the national government to fast-track the search for missing bodies.

“I urge both the national and county governments, as well as all Kenyans of goodwill, to offer us the required support at this time, particularly live jackets and professional divers to aid in rescue and recovery," said Kamuren.

The multi-agency rescue team comprises the Marine Police, the Coast Guard Service, the Kenya Red Cross, the Fisheries Department, and local community divers.

The boat was carrying youth from Salabani en route to Kokwa Island for a church service.

Those rescued have been released after trauma counseling.
