Baringo cop who showed there is a different way of enforcing the curfew – VIDEO

As police in some counties brutalised innocent Kenyans on Friday before and after the national curfew imposed as part of measures to combat COVID-19 in the country, Baringo Sub-county AP Commander Ibrahim Abachila chose a different route.

Mr. Abachila was captured talking to drivers, who had arrived late, on the importance of the dusk to dawn curfew, advising them to properly plan their time not to be caught on transit during the curfew.

He further took the opportunity to sensitize them on the danger of the coronavirus before sanitizing them and allowing them to go home.

A few minutes to the curfew, some residents were still on the streets with others held in the supermarket.

Others are reported to have relocated to their rural homes for fear of unforeseen consequences of curfew and by 15 minutes to 7pm all streets were empty, however, police had to engage boda boda operators in running battles to eject them from the streets.

Police have come under heavy criticism after they resorted to brutality especially in Mombasa where the men in uniform nearly caused a stampede as they whipped and teargassed innocent Kenyans who were waiting to board the ferry.

Several other videos of police assaulting members of public during the curfew have been shared on social media with various institutions condemning the brutality.

The Law Society of Kenya has vowed to move to court on Monday to sue the government over what it terms as “unconstitutional” curfew
