Bhang worth Ksh.8.9M seized in Siaya, suspect arrested after dramatic chase

The suspect was arrested after engaging police in a dramatic car chase along the Siaya-Nyadorera Road.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, officers from the Siaya Police Station managed to intercept a motor vehicle that was transporting the bhang.

He stated that the officers laid a trap following tip-off from members of the public, noting that the driver of the vehicle -  Justus Onyango Malaki - attempted to defy police orders to stop, forcing the cops to trail the vehicle.

In the event, they shot and deflated the front tire of the vehicle, managing to stop it before the driver tried to escape but was pursued and arrested by the police officers. Upon search, six sacks containing bhang were recovered.  

The driver was arrested and detained at Siaya Police Station waiting to be charged for the offence of trafficking narcotic drugs, while the motor vehicle was also detained in relation to the offence.

 The suspect is set to be arraigned on Monday.
