Bhang worth Sh1M nabbed in Garissa

Police officers in Garissa have intercepted a consignment of bhang with a street value of Sh1 million.

Speaking to the media, County Police Commander Shadrack Maithya said that the bang weighing 50 kilogrammes was neatly wrapped in a white sack and was intercepted in a truck that was carrying goods along the Garissa-Mandera road.

Maithya added that police also arrested the owner of the consignment that was destined for Nairobi.

Police now say that they suspect the man has been involved in this business for quite some time before his arrest, adding that they will interrogate him with to get more information.

The suspect who is currently being held at the Garissa Police Station will be arraigned in court to answer to charges of drug trafficking.
