Detectives from Lang'ata Police Station are investigating the brutal murder of Jackson Mukundi, a young man reportedly employed by Justine Mwithalii, who is now the main suspect in the killing.

It is alleged that Mukundi was killed after allegedly disappearing with his employer's motorcycle for two days without paying his daily dues.

Citizen Digital visited Mukundi's home and talked to his grieving family and friends, with his cousin Kennedy Kariuki and friend Patrick Musyoki, recalling Mukundi before his death.

"Nilipigiwa simu saa sita usiku kuambiwa kijana anapigwa, nikaogopa kutoka nje. Naskia ni mavaite, saa singetoka peke yangu,” said Kariuki, a cousin to Mukundi.

Musyoki, the watchman and friend to the deceased, said: “Alikuwa na deni mingi sana, singeweza kutoka. Hata kama ni wewe unachunga magari za watu, singeweza kutoka."

The cause of Jackson's death is said to be attributed to his employer's business dealings.

"Mimi namuonaga anatumwa na pikipiki, anatumwa mzigo analeta,” added Musyoki.

Kariuki on his part said, "Alikuwa amempea pikipiki siku tatu hivi, vile alirudi hivi, vurugu ikaanzia hapo."

A neighbor, Nya-Migori, stated: “Hii pikipiki walikuwa wanaendesha na huyo mjamaa. Niliskia alienda na pikipiki akarudisha. Sasa nashangaa ilikuwa nini mbaya, anaua huyo mjamaa."

After the murder, it is alleged that the suspect's rental properties were demolished by the angry mob, and the tenants moved out.

"Alikuwa amemfungia ndani. Mimi ndiye nilipendua, alikuwa amepiga maana alikuwa amepigwa na chuma hapa na hapa kwa kichwa. Ni kama alipigwa msumari kwa kichwa na alikuwa anatoa damu nyuma,” Kariuki noted.

The body is being held at the City Mortuary.

"Tupate tu haki, alafu watusaidie sababu hata kwenda kumpumzisha hatuna uwezo. Babake hana kitu,” said the watchman.

"Huyu jamaa ametoroka. Hata sisi tumeogopa, anaweza kuja atuue,” Nya-Migori added.

As the family prepares to bury their kin with continued calls for justice, the suspect is still on the run. Detectives will piece together what really transpired.
