Calls for the unity of Kenyans continue to feature strongly during the final funeral service for the late Bomet governor Dr. Joyce Laboso.

The service which is still underway at St. Augustine’s Kandege Secondary School at her matrimonial home in Fort Tenan, Kisumu County, is being attended by Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, Governors, Senators, MPs, family members, several government officials and thousands of mourners.

The service is being presided over by RT Reverend Dr Paul Korir of ACK Diocese.

On Friday, a memorial service was held at the Bomet green stadium, which had always been the departed governor’s choice for her major functions, this time offering Bomet residents a chance to say their final goodbyes.

Dr. Laboso passed away at the Nairobi Hospital on Monday after succumbing to Cancer. She was 59.

Her passing comes two weeks after she silently jetted back to the country on July 14 after a medical trip to India and the United Kingdom.
