Activist Boniface Mwangi and four others
have been released on Ksh.20,000 cash bail each.
The court sitting in Milimani ruled against detaining the four for 21 days as requested by investigating officers and instead gave a mention date within a period of 21 days.
The four were arrested on Thursday during a
demonstration in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) in memory of youth killed during the invasion of
parliament on the 25th of June.
DCI officers had sought to hold the five,
saying they were investigating allegations of computer misuse and cybercrime,
unlawful assembly, and incitement.
The court was informed that the offences are
still under investigation.
Police claim Mwangi and the others were
distributing t-shirts and placards with inciteful messages.
Further, the investigators argued that the
group disrupted public order by blocking roads with a coffin and seven white
crosses inscribed with names.
