Britam Holdings Chairman Kuria Muchiru dies after short illness
The Chairman of Britam Holdings PLC Board of Directors, Mr. Kuria Muchiru. He passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026.

In a statement issued Friday, the company expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Mr. Muchiru’s pivotal role in steering Britam through a period of transformation and growth.
“Kuria joined Britam as a Non-Executive Director in August 2021 and was appointed Board Chairman in December 2021. During his tenure, he provided steady, visionary leadership, strengthening governance, restoring stakeholder confidence, and positioning Britam for sustained growth,” the statement read.
The company noted that Mr. Muchiru’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements, adding that he will be remembered for "his wisdom, integrity, and the genuine care he extended to those around him."
“On behalf of the entire Britam family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working with him. May God rest his soul in eternal peace,” the statement added.
Mr. Muchiru’s leadership was credited with guiding the insurance and financial services group through key strategic initiatives.
