A 38-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing his wife to death in a domestic dispute in Njiru, Budalangi area, on Tuesday night.

Police say the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Akongo Okanga, fatally attacked his wife, Eunice Wanjiku, with a kitchen knife during an altercation at their home.

The attack, which occurred at around 8 p.m., left Wanjiku with fatal stab wounds.

Njiru Sub-County Police Commander John Owuoth, who visited the scene, confirmed the incident, saying the victim died instantly. “The suspect stabbed the wife twice with a kitchen knife. He has since been arrested and is in custody as investigations continue,” Owuoth said.

The incident has once again put the spotlight on the alarming cases of domestic violence that continue to plague households across the country. Residents of Budalangi described the couple as known to the community, with the shocking turn of events leaving many in disbelief.

Police have urged members of the public to seek non-violent means of resolving disputes, as authorities intensify efforts to tackle the rising cases of gender-based violence.
