Bungoma Governor Wangamati concedes defeat, congratulates Ken Lusaka

Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has
conceded defeat after failing in his attempt to recapture the seat for a second
term.
Wangamati, in a message posted to his social
media accounts on Thursday, congratulated his competitor Ken Lusaka (Ford-Kenya) for
reportedly winning the seat; this is however pending the official announcement
from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The exiting one-term county boss, whou sought the seat on a DAP-K ticket, hence expressed
gratitude to his supporters, as well as his Cabinet and family for helping him
during his period of service and backing his re-election bid.
“The people of Bungoma have spoken and we
respect that decision. I want to congratulate Kenneth Lusaka on his election as
the Governor of Bungoma County. I want to thank every citizen of Bungoma who
thought and believed in my vision for Bungoma and all those who supported my
campaigns for re-election and voted for me,” he wrote.
“To each one of you, I want you to know that
every single vote, every single contribution, every word of advice and
encouragement was and remains greatly appreciated. To the great people of
Bungoma, thank you for your trust and confidence on the basis of which I have
served as your second Governor for the last 5 years.”
He added: “I want to thank everyone who
helped me achieve my mandate. My Cabinet and staff, you have been worthy
dependable partners in this journey. I want to thank my wife Caroline. Words
fail me. I know this loss is so much yours as it is mine.”
Wangamati further wished the incoming
Governor well in his endeavor, urging them to move the county to the next
level.
He also urged him to adopt whatever he sees as
noteworthy from his own agenda for the good of the people.
