Bus bursts into flames on Nairobi-Mombasa highway
At least 40 passengers escaped unhurt after a bus headed to Mombasa from Nairobi on Tuesday caught fire at Manyani area in Taita Taveta County.
Confirming the incident, Taita Taveta County Traffic Commandant Michael Mureithi said the passengers were safely evacuated when the bus christened ‘Tahmeed’ burst into flames.
Mr. Mureithi stated that the passengers’ belongings were, however, consumed by the fire, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The incident comes barely three days after another bus belonging to Dreamline Company caught fire at Makina area leaving two passengers with severe burn injuries.
