Man arrested sitting KCSE exam for his father

A man was on Monday arrested for allegedly sitting a KCSE exam for his father at a school in Busia County.

According to a police report on the incident, officers from Busia Police Station who were guarding the English Paper 1 test at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School were informed by the Center Manager that there was a man impersonating a candidate and writing the exam.

"On receiving the report, the County Security team led by the DCC and SCPC rushed to the center and found the suspect namely George Barasa Makokha," reads the police report.

Upon interrogation, Barasa disclosed that he had been sent by his father to sit his examination.

"...upon interrogation, he (Barasa) disclosed that he had been sent by a candidate of Index Number 35960101026 registered for Busia Sub County Private namely Josephat Basoga Makokha and who is the suspect's father," reads the police report.

The suspect is in custody at the station awaiting arraignment for charges of intent to impersonate not being the registered candidate in contravention of section 30(c) of the KNEC Act.
