The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) has suspended a security guard following the circulation of a video on social media showing a confrontation between the guard and a student within the university premises.
In a
statement, the university management said it had taken note of the widely
shared footage and emphasizing that it does not tolerate any form of violence
or intimidation directed at members of the university community.
“The
University wishes to state unequivocally that it does not countenance any form
of violence, intimidation, or unprofessional conduct against members of the
University community or any other,” the statement read.

service provider contracted by the institution.
University
management said it has initiated internal review processes and is engaging the
security company responsible for the guard to ensure full accountability.
“The
security guard involved… has been immediately suspended from duty pending
ongoing investigations and appropriate disciplinary action,” the university
said.
The
institution further called on members of the university community and the
public to remain calm as investigations continue.
“We urge
members of the University community and the public to remain calm as the matter
is being addressed with the seriousness it deserves,” the statement added.
The
incident has drawn significant attention online, with many users calling for
