Veteran Kenyan media personality Catherine Kasavuli has died.

The news of her demise was confirmed by acting KBC Managing Director Samuel Maina.

Kasavuli who recently opened up about her battle with cervical cancer, succumbed to the illness in Nairobi on Thursday night.

Ms Kasavuli was the first female TV news anchor in the country, and is credited with breaking the glass ceiling for female TV journalists in the country.

During her illustrious career which boomed between the 1990s and 2015, Kasavuli graced Kenyan TV screens as an anchor in most of Kenya's leading television stations including Citizen TV, State broadcaster KBC and KTN.
